Wed, Feb 17, 2021
WHITEHORSE - The Yukon Information and Privacy Commissioner (IPC), Diane McLeod-McKay, and one of her staff met today with members of the Academic Senate of Yukon University.
The university had extended an invitation to the IPC to make a presentation at one of their Senate meetings and answer questions about the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (ATIPP Act).
The presentation included information on what the ATIPP Act requires of the university in regard to the protection and use of student and employee data, as well as the top issues that have arisen during the COVID-19 pandemic due to the increased use of digital workspaces and online learning environments.
The presentation, which took place virtually, was done by McLeod-McKay and one of her investigator and compliance review officers, Sebastian Paauwe, who has a wealth of experience in privacy protection and information security.
